French Recipe Brioche

Brioche:

Ingredients:

– 500 grams (4 cups) strong white flour

– 50 grams (1/4 cup) granulated sugar

– 10 grams (2 teaspoons) active dry yeast

– 5 grams (1 teaspoon) salt

– 250 grams (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened

– 6 large eggs

– egg wash (1 egg beaten with a pinch of salt)

Instructions:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.

2. Add the softened butter and eggs to the bowl.

3. Mix until all the ingredients are well combined and a smooth dough forms.

4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it becomes elastic and slightly sticky.

5. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 to 2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air and shape it into your desired brioche shape. You can make small individual brioches or a large loaf.

7. Place the shaped dough onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

8. Cover the dough again with a clean towel and let it rest for another 30 minutes to 1 hour, allowing it to rise a second time.

9. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

10. Brush the brioche with the egg wash, ensuring it is evenly coated.

11. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

12. Remove from the oven and let the brioche cool on a wire rack before serving.

Enjoy your brioche, a taste of French sweetness!
