    It is also a station on the RER (Regional Netwark) d’Île-de-France network. Often, simply called gare de Lyon, it is located in the 12th district (arrondissement), mainly in the Quinze-Vingts neighborhood. The South East portion of its tracks and platforms are located in the Bercy neighborhood.

    It’s the third largest Paris train station by traffic (about 101 millions travellers in 2015), and the second with regard to main line trains (after the gare du Nord with 36 million, including the TGV). It is in zone: 1 (tarification Île-de-France) with coordinates 48° 50′ 41″ North, 2° 22′ 25″ East and an altitude of 39 m.

    It is on the train lines Paris-Lyon ↔ Marseille-Saint-Charles, Paris-Nord ↔ Paris-Gare-de-Lyon (RER D) and RER A with 22 terminus surface lines and 6 underground through lines for RER A and D for a total of 28 tracks and 28 platforms serving 137,8 million passengers (2015), including Mainlines and RER D (SNCF): 101,2 and RER A (RATP): 36,6 million per year.

    Train travel from Paris Gare de Lyon to the other mainline train stations in Paris:

    • For the Gare du Nord, take RER Line D North towards Orry-la-Ville-Coye.
    • For the Gare de l'Est, either walk to nearby Quai de la Rapée Métro station for Line 5 (going North to Bobigny - Pablo Picasso).
      Or take Métro Line 1 from Lyon North to Bastille station and change there to Line 5.
    • For Gare Saint-Lazare, take Métro Line 14.
    • For Gare Montparnasse, catch a 91 bus, which goes there directly.
      Or take the Métro Line 14 to Châtelet and then change for Line 4 to Montparnasse-Bienvenüe (although Châtelet is an extremely large and complex station, the connection between those two lines is very short).
    • For Gare d'Austerlitz the 5-10mn walk south across Pont Charles de Gaulle or Pont d'Austerlitz is quickest.

    • Charles de Gaulle Airport: Le Bus Direct (Line 4) daily from 6h00 to 22h30.
      Departure every 30 minutes from 20 Boulevard Diderot.
    • Orly airport: RATP Bus 91 to Gare Montparnasse then Le Bus Direct to Orly.
